Xenial
Ansible
Most of my setup is now down by the groot-workstation role in my ansible scripts. See the Readme for details.
Manual steps/troubleshooting below.
NVidia
Device manager is broken in Kubuntu Xenial. To see what drivers are recommended for your card:
Binary Driver Installation
sudo ubuntu-drivers devices # choose from the recommended list sudo apt-get install nvidia-367
Language
Still seems to be broken in KDE. You need to use the gnome language selector to choose your input method.
Programming
# Get the language selector sudo apt-get install language-selector-gnome gnome-language-selector # Choose your language for menus and windows - English (Australia) # Choose the input method (fcitx) # Now you should be able to go to System Settings->Regional Settings->Input Method # Input Method->Default Keyboard Layout : Korean 101/104 # Input Method->Select Input Method : Hangul (below keyboard Korean 101/104, make sure you have "Only show current language" unchecked) # Global Config->Trigger Input Method : Hangul # Appearance->Font Size : 8 # Manage Skin : Dark

- Konsole & Kate Font: Monospace (DejaVu Sans Mono) - required for proper display of korean characters
GTK For Kubuntu
- Download Mediterranean Themes from the file listed on the theme's homepage at gnome-look.org.
- Untar the file in ~/.themes.
- Log out, log in again.
- Use the Mediterranean Darkest theme.
Theme Hacks
# Change the fugly splash screen to match your background sudo cp /mnt/mervin/media/pictures/backgrounds/backtrack/eye_of_the_dragon.png /usr/share/plasma/look-and-feel/org.kde.breeze.desktop/contents/components/artwork/background.png
Hardware
LG HBS750 Bluetooth Headphones
- Plugin the adapter
- System Settings → Bluetooth → Adapters : should now see your adapter
- System Settings → Bluetooth → Adapters → Make Visible
- Turn the headphones on, should start up and immediately try pairing (flashing blue)
- Check that the device was discovered
- System Settings → Multimedia → Audio and Video → Audio Hardware Setup → Sound Card (LG HBS750) → Profile (High Fidelity)
- System Settings → Multimedia → Audio and Video → Device Preference → Audio Playback: prefer LG HBS750 in all categories
Without the high fidelity step it will engage, but then the headset will shake (error) and amarok/youtube will just hang.
